ZBOS Robot License
This chapter provides information about the ZBOS Robot License.
What is a robot license?
A ZBOS Robot License gives the user permission to use the robot with the latest ZBOS Control and ZBOS Cloud software.
A license gives the robot access to the online ZBOS services, including, but not limited to:
-
connection to the online MQTT broker
-
controlling the robot from the ZBOS Control application and/or website via Cloud connection;
-
access to the online Cloud storage services;
-
access to the latest software updates.
License pricing and duration
Licensing can vary depending on the region, the distributor, the type of robot, the moment of purchase and any other specifics as agreed upon when purchasing a ZBOS license or ZBOS equipped robot.
Most commonly, a monthly fee is charged, hence most licenses will auto-renew on a monthly basis as long as the required fees have been paid.
Non-payment of the monthly fee will void the license and as a result the functionality provided by the license will be blocked until proper licensing is restored.
The status and duration of the license is visible in the About section of the Kiosk Settings.
License states
A license can have a state, the possible states are explained below.
Valid license
If the robot license is valid, this will be displayed in the About section of the Kiosk Settings, under Cloud license info as the example below shows:
Expired license
In case your license has expired, a message stating “Cloud license expired” will appear in the bottom right corner:
This message can be temporarily removed by clicking the close-icon (), but will always re-appear in order to prevent unauthorized use of our software. You can remove the message by renewing your license or by opting out of all cloud services. |
If you purchased your license directly via Talemate BV in Belgium, contact support if you see this message and don’t know how to resolve it. In case you are licenced via a distributor, please contact them directly. |
Missing license
In case your license is missing, a message stating “No cloud license found” will appear in the bottom right corner:
This message can be temporarily removed by clicking the close-icon (), but will always re-appear in order to prevent unauthorized use of our software. You can remove the message by renewing your license or by opting out of all cloud services. |
If you purchased your license directly via Talemate BV in Belgium, contact support if you see this message and don’t know how to resolve it. In case you are licenced via a distributor, please contact them directly. |
Factory mode
In case your robot is in factory mode, a message stating “Robot is in factory mode” will appear in the bottom right corner:
During factory mode, all cloud functionality as described in What is a robot license? will continue to work, the only difference is that the above message will always show prominently on the display until the factory mode is disabled by Talemate.
Opting out
We can understand that for some use cases the cloud functionality is not possible or desired. For these cases you can disable the Remote Broker setting in the Kiosk settings or via ZBOS Control. Doing so will effectively hide any on-screen prompts about missing or invalid license. Keep in mind that this will completely prevent all remote functionality with the robot and can only be re-enabled via a local connection (and a valid license).
